Gargoyle Gecko Advice

An adult gargoyle gecko should be housed in an enclosure that is around 18"x18"x24". A taller container is better than a wider container.

Either live plants or fake plants should be used for climbing and hiding places.

A cork round or small tree should also be added for climbing and if a heat source, such as a light bulb, is being used. The gecko will be able to get closer to or farther from the heat of that bulb in order to control its temperature.

A misting bottle or an automated misting system will make sure that there is enough humidity for the gecko. Spray inside the enclosure to raise the humidity to around 90%.

Bioactive substrates help keep the enclosure clean. Organisms can be added to the soil that will take care of the gecko's feces and control mold that tends to grow in a humid area. These organisms are called isopods and springtails.

Rhacodactylus auriculatus - aka the gargoyle gecko is a nocturnal gecko that lives in small trees close to the ground. Which makes them the perfect pet for a bioactive terrarium with live plants.
